Why We Are Pro-Life

It is not because of the existence of life-killing organizations like Planned Parenthood who claim that abortion is only a tiny part of what they do when the facts clearly say otherwise (latest annual report states: adoption referrals–2,667; abortions–354,871).

It is not because of the life-denying statements that many of our public leaders have made this past week:

  • "Abortion is a moral choice. It is an ethical choice. It is your choice. There are no good abortions; there are no bad abortions; there is only the abortion you need. FULL STOP." Abortion Access Front founder LIzz Winstead (co-creator/former head writer of The Daily Show)

  • "I am very disappointed, because women's rights must be protected. And I would have expected America to protect such rights." World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus

  • Most Americans believe the decision to have a child is one of the most sacred decisions there is, and that such decisions should remain between patients and their doctors. Today's Supreme Court opinion will live in infamy as a step backward for women's rights and human rights.” Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton

  • This cruel ruling is outrageous and heart-wrenching. But make no mistake: the rights of women and all Americans are on the ballot this November.House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (a Roman Catholic)

  • Today the Supreme Court of the United States expressly took away a constitutional right from the American people that it had already recognized. This is a sad day for the country, in my view. But it doesn't mean the fight's over. Let me be very clear and unambiguous: the only way we can secure a woman's right to choose a balance that exists is for Congress to restore the protections of Roe v. Wade as federal law. Voters need to make their voices heard. This fall (they) must elect more senators and representatives who will codify a woman's right to choose into federal law once again. I've warned about how this decision risks the broader right to privacy for everyone. The right to make the best decisions for your health. The right to use birth control, a married couple in the privacy of their bedroom.” President Joe Biden (a Roman Catholic)

It is because of four compelling reasons that Pastor Tim Counts shared so clearly, helpfully, and biblically in the following article:

The overturning of Roe v Wade after 63 million pre-born babies have been killed in our nation is birthing new dialogue. We are not only discussing it with our children, we are explaining to them why we are pro-life. It is simply a matter of time before a relative or neighbor or co-worker brings up the topic of abortion with you or you see an opportunity to talk about why you are pro-life. While much more could be said, these four reasons I am pro-life are reasons that I want to be on the tip of my tongue and that I hope will be on yours, also.”

May God have mercy on our country as we seem to be living in a growing culture of death from the womb to the grave, and may the Lord ignite the church to live out the gospel more faithfully, passionately, and openly than ever before.
