Dan Brewer
Director of Biblical Counseling
and Pastoral Care

Dan was born in Spokane, Washington, and has lived most of his life in Washington. He is married to Gail, who you may recognize as one of our Children’s Ministry staff. They have 5 grown children: Taylor (married to Ty), Sarah (married to Luke), Morgan, Ryan, and Matthew. They also have 3 grandchildren: Remi, Ryker, and Reuben.

He graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and is now pursuing a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling from Faith Bible Seminary. He has received his Biblical Counseling Certification through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC; Kansas City, Missouri).

Although Dan grew up in a Christian home as the son of a pastor, he did not accept Christ as his Lord and Savior until he was in his early 30s. He says, “I was listening to a sermon on Romans 1:18–32 when God removed the blinders from the eyes of my heart so that I could see that His Word is true. Life has never been the same since! I have made plenty of mistakes in my life and God has been exceedingly merciful and gracious to me. I am eternally grateful for His patient and compassionate care for me.”

Dan began attending CCFW in 2008 and is involved in general discipleship, overseeing men’s and women’s ministries, and the counseling and care ministries.

In 2016, God used our former counseling pastor, Jim Low, to change the direction of his life in a supernatural way. The Holy Spirit implanted within him a passion for biblical counseling and soul care, and an insatiable appetite for theology. Dan now dedicates his life to the building up of the saints, as he explains, “I spent 30 years of my life in local government building roads and bridges. Lord willing, I will spend the next 30 years helping others build eternal roads and bridges to Christ.”

Dan explains his ministry passion in this way:
As a saint, sufferer, and sinner in desperate need of change, I am passionate about the relational ministry of the Living Word. I love coming alongside hurting people and compassionately ministering the gospel of God’s truth and grace by making a big deal about Jesus. There is nothing more fulfilling in all of life than watching the Holy Spirit move in the hearts and lives of the Father’s children.

He is also passionate about the overall administration of the church, especially in the areas of strategic planning, organizational dynamics, and overall ministry alignment.

His top five favorite books are Soul Physicians by Robert Kellemen, A Theology of Biblical Counseling by Heath Lambert, Saints, Sufferers, and Sinners by Michael Emlet, Instruments in the Redeemer’s Hands by Paul Tripp, and A Gospel Primer for Christians by Milton Vincent. His favorite band is MercyMe and he enjoys riding his bike for exercise and has completed the Seattle to Portland (STP) race many times. He enjoys spending time outdoors with family and friends, especially doing archery elk hunting, and enjoys being anywhere in Washington and Idaho.

Christ’s Church exists to glorify God by making more and better disciples of Jesus Christ through intentional relationships.
