Testimony: I was exposed to many different religions in my youth; Catholicism, Mormonism, Islam and the Baha’i faith. When I was in college, I became curious about Christianity. I began reading a Bible that I borrowed from a co-worker. It was like no other book I had ever read; I became convinced that it was the true Word of God, that I was not living the way God said I should, so I deserved eternal punishment and Jesus was more than a good man, He was the one that died in my place. The only thing I had heard about Christianity was that being a Christian means “your life is not your own”. That thought influenced my response to the Bible. I cried out to God for forgiveness of my sins, asking for help to understand the Bible more and committing to live a life that was no longer my own. Many things radically changed in my life that day. God graciously brought people into my life to teach me about Him and the Bible. My love for God, the Bible and the church has grown more and more as I have continued read the Bible and have been taught by godly men. The Bible is still my favorite book to read every day, it still amazes me, like I’m reading it for the first time each time I read it.
