The Big & Little F of Faithfulness

What a memorable day we had this past Sunday thanking and praising God for His great Faithfulness toward us, His gospel, and His Word over the past 40 years. He uniquely displays the big F of Faithfulness. We could never thank Him enough for sticking with us, yet it is also true that the Lord has been honored by those who have been faithful to Him and His church these past 40 years as well. These have modelled the little f of faithfulness to the Lord and His church.

As I mentioned Sunday, God has blessed us with so many faithful servants over the years, and we are all encouraged and motivated by those who have persevered over the long haul.

  • We have 49 people who have faithfully served our church family since 1989 (35 years): Howard & Pairlee Audett, Tom & Buttons Carioto, Bruce Carson, Lloyd & Barb Cherry, Rachel Coalman, Phil & Heidi Dalrymple, Win Edvalds, Phyllis Fredrickson, Teresa George, Dianne Hansen, John Hendrickson, Loren & Mavis Hockett, Gary & Sue Holliday, Cathie Houtcooper, Nancy Huffman, Gene & Rhea Hunt, Jon & Mary Jensen, Steve & Wendy Johnson, Steve & Lori Jung, Dave & Wendy Kim, Ty & Linda LaPlante, Gail Parrish, Lance & Nancy Pomeroy, Connie Rock, Fred & Diane Rubatino, Trin & Karen Suniga, Patricia Turner, John Turner, Alice Van Houten, Dean & Krissy Wescott, Mark & Monica Westbrook.

  • We have 13 people who have faithfully served our church family since we were relaunched as Christ’s Church in 1984 (40 years): Howard & Pairlee Audett, Lloyd & Barb Cherry, Steve & Lori Jung, Gail Parrish, Connie Rock, Patricia Turner, John Turner, Ty & Linda LaPlante, Alice Van Houten.

  • We have 6 people who have been faithfully serving our church since 1982 (42 years) when it was called Federal Way Christian Church: Patricia Turner, John Turner, Gail Parrish, Connie Rock, Ty & Linda LaPlante.

  • We have 2 people who have been faithfully serving our church family since 1977 (47.5 years): Ty & Linda LaPlante (they deserve at least a Chick-fil-A card – Lol)

All these long-term servants have experienced the joys and sorrows, and the highs and lows of ministry with God’s messy people…and they stayed faithful. What a great testimony to all of us.

May their tribe increase since the Lord has told us all to “be faithful until death” (Revelation 2:10). And since our God is so Faithful, let us make it our aim to walk in faithfulness to Him and His great, but imperfect, church that He is Faithfully perfecting and building!

Pastor Jeff

We share one central hope in Jesus’ victory. We should discuss which system(s) most faithfully and consistently interpret the Bible, but we must do so acknowledging that our hope is a shared hope. Our hero is the same. Jesus returns, and Jesus wins.
