Meet Eric Hong

I was born on March 8, 1979, and grew up in a religious family which laid the foundation for my spiritual life. Growing up, I learned about God, but it wasn't until I met Tom Lathrop at Christ’s Church that I truly understood what it meant to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Through Tom’s guidance, I realized the significance of Jesus’ sacrifice for my sins and the new life He offers. I was baptized in 2000, marking the beginning of my active faith journey.

I hold a BA in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Washington. My career began at Boeing in Everett, where I worked for 15 years, gaining valuable experience in the aerospace industry. In 2019, I transitioned to Blue Origin in Kent, where I continue to apply my skills and passion for innovation.

I married my wonderful wife, Jihye, on June 22, 2007. Together, we have four amazing children: Eu-Jin (2008), June (2012), Luke (2014), and Samuel (2015). As parents, we prioritize exposing our children to the gospel through the church’s Children’s Ministry and Student Ministry, fostering their spiritual growth from a young age.

My involvement in ministry has been deeply rewarding. I’ve served as an interpreter for the Korean Ministry and led Life Groups. Jihye and I are committed to disciple-making and building heart-to-heart connections with children, seniors, and immigrants, reflecting our shared values and experiences as a Korean immigrant family.

In addition to my professional and ministry work, I enjoy spending time with my kids, playing and watching sports like soccer and basketball, and indulging in card and board games. I also have a passion for photography and learning about apologetics. Jihye and I love nature, often seeking out sandy, secluded beaches where we can relax and enjoy life with bubble teas in hand.

Life is a journey filled with learning, growth, and service. I encourage you to reflect on your own journey—embracing faith, nurturing family, and engaging with your community. Together, we can create a positive impact in the lives of those around us.

Christ’s Church exists to glorify God by making more and better disciples of Jesus Christ through intentional relationships.
