Moses Confronted Pharoah (Exodus 5:1-12:42)
Read & Discuss
Frogs, gnats, flies covering the ground. Water turned into blood. Sores all over the Egyptian people’s bodies. Darkness throughout the entire land. Why did all these terrifying things happen? God said to Pharoah, “I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth (Ex 9:15-16).” Because of Pharaoh’s hard heart, Egypt suffered but God’s people were saved. Jesus’ blood saves us from our sins just as the Passover lamb’s blood saved the firstborn of the Israelites.
Activity
Ever played “Plague Charades?” Write the plague name or draw scenes that relate to the plagues on half-sheets. One family member can act out the plague while the rest of the family guesses. Talk about how God showed His power over creation and Pharaoh.
Memory Verse
Our verse is Psalm 34:17 which says “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and rescues them from all their troubles.” Say this verse 3x together before bed each night so each member of the family has the verse memorized by Sunday morning. Praise God for His Word!
Prayer
Thank God for all your day’s events – the good and the bad. Thank Him for His power to work all things for His glory. Ask God to give you faith to trust Him no matter what and to give praise for things that go better than we deserve. Thank God for two ways that He has shown love to you.
