Optical illusions are fun to try to figure out. In a 1999 Super Mario Bros. Show episode, it is difficult to tell if Mario is going up or down a staircase. It depends on your perspective. When the twelve spies returned from inspecting the land God promised, only two were ready to go in. Most of the spies said the people could not be defeated, but Joshua and Caleb believed God makes all things possible! Because of their faith, Joshua and Caleb entered that land. When we believe in Jesus by faith, we receive forgiveness and the reward of eternal life that God has promised. Oh, and ask Pastor Steve next week if Mario is going up or down. 😊
Activity
Have your family explore a section of your backyard or local park. Everyone draw a picture of the things you see. After the walk, compare your drawings. Review the story of the spies that inspected the land of Canaan. Talk about trusting God and His power when we’re afraid.
Memory Verse
Write Romans 8:28 on a white board (or piece of paper): “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Erase a word or short phrase and each time, recite the entire verse together.
Prayer
Ask God to give you courage to trust Him with your fears. Thank God that He is always with us and for His promise to work all things for His glory and our good.
