To The End

by Max Dalrymple, Student Ministry Director

On the cross, Jesus declared three words that completely changed our eternity. “It is finished.” The redemptive work of Christ on the cross is done! He has been raised to life, removing the sting of death for those of us who know Christ, removing our sin as far as the east is from the west! Believer, hear the joyous news that there is no longer any condemnation for those of us who are in Christ Jesus! And now, we have news to share, because not only has God saved us, but He freely offers salvation to anyone who will repent and believe the good news that He has died for sinners and risen again to give new life! (John 3:16, Rom 10:9-13)

With that in mind, while Christ’s work on the cross is complete, He still has work to be done. He has commissioned all believers to go into the world as His messengers and to make disciples of all nations. It’s a big task, but we are not alone. He has given us a powerful Advocate in the Holy Spirit to lead, guide, and help us in the mission. He has promised us that we are not alone, but that He is with us always, to the end of the age. (Acts 1:8, Matt 28:16-20)

Often when I hear mission reports, especially ones from another country where people are dying for their faith, I think, “Wow, real gospel work is happening there.” However, real gospel work is constantly happening here in Federal Way too! We do not have to go very far to find people who desperately need the gospel. We are surrounded by people who are enslaved to sin, following the course of this world, and shamelessly sprinting down the road to Hell. Some of the darkest places in the world lie in the workplaces, schools, grocery stores, and sports teams in our local community. We are constantly surrounded by people who need the love and forgiveness of their Creator, and thank the Lord that we have very good news for them! We have good news!

Salvation has come through Jesus Christ!  And we know Him. We’ve seen His saving power in our own lives, and we have personal testimonies about how He is able to powerfully save, transform, and secure forever those who believe in Him. In Romans 10:14-15, Paul asks a good question when he writes, “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent?” Then he writes this, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!

Brothers and sisters, we have good news! Let’s make that good news known to the world, starting here in Federal Way. Christ is coming back soon. Let us be found doing His work when He returns!

Serving with you,
Max
