Conquering Jericho (Joshua 2, 4)
Read & Discuss
Have you ever participated in a trust fall? This is when a person falls backwards into the arms of people waiting to catch them. A trust fall is scary, but easier if you select people to catch you who love and protect you. The battle at Jericho was all about trusting God and His specific instructions. After six days of marching once around the city and seven times on day seven, the trumpets blew and the Israelites shouted. Jericho was destroyed except for Rahab and her family, for the spies had promised to keep Rahab and her family safe in exchange for her kindness. Though it can be hard for us to trust God when we don’t understand what He is doing, He is good and in control of all things.
Activity
Find a local organization that supports foster care kids and donate to them or serve them somehow. As a family, pray for children to be united with loving families. Thank God that through Jesus, He makes it possible for anyone who believes to be welcomed into His family and loved forever!
Memory Verse
Talk about how great God is as you memorize Psalm 24:8. “Who is this King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord, mighty in battle!”
Prayer
Praise God for the mercy He showed Rahab through the Israelites and for the mercy He has shown us through Jesus. “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom. 6:23).
