Gospel Power & Surprises
My feed this week on X (formerly Twitter) was very lively about a guy named Wesley Huff. Who is Wesley Huff? He is a Canadian apologist. Wes was born in Multan, Pakistan, and spent a portion of his childhood in the Middle East. He is currently a PhD student at the University of Toronto (Biblical Studies: New Testament) and the Central Canada Director at Apologetics Canada. Wes has participated in numerous talks and interfaith dialogue events at universities across Canada and has been participating in public dialogues on issues of faith, belief, and religion for the last 10 years. He lives in Toronto, Canada, with his wife Melissa, and their three children.
OK, so he’s one of many apologists in the Christian community, so why mention him in particular? He recently received lots of attention after participating in a big debate this past October with a popular atheist Youtuber named Billy Carson. The debate (Carson vs Huff Debate) went viral and caught the attention of Joe Rogan (#1 most popular podcast with 14.5 million followers) who interviewed Wes Huff for 3 hours and 15 minutes on The Joe Rogan Experience. What was heard by millions of listeners was the gospel of Jesus Christ that Wes Huff shared at the end of the podcast (listen here).
Here is one of many comments that John Packard, one of our CC members, shared with me and others that testify to how the Lord used Wes’s gospel words:
"I hope Wes sees this comment. I have been an atheist that believed many of Billy's claims for my entire life. Since the debate I’ve been watching a lot of your content and I'm going to say something I have never said before. Wes has single handedly dismantled my entire world view on the Abrahamic doctrines. Not only do I realize how incorrect Ive been my entire life, I am beginning to believe the Christians may actually be right about everything. I cant believe Im saying that, but its true. Thanks Wes, for shattering my world view and setting me down on a solid foundation." (@jamesrademacher7873 1 month ago)
It is a reminder to all of us about our call in 1 Peter 3:15: “But sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence.”
Oh Lord, please make us all ready for divine appointments and opportunities to shine “the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God” (2 Cor. 4:4b).
