Worship at the Tabernacle (Leviticus 16, 19, 26)

Read & Discuss

Have you ever heard the term “scapegoat?” It describes how a person or group takes the blame for others. The term came from the Bible. God commanded the Israelites to worship Him through the sin offering. Because sin must be punished, the sin offering required the sacrifice of an animal, and it would not fully cover the penalty of sin, so more sacrifices had to be made. It reminds us how horrible sin is. Lev. 16:20-22 describes how the High Priest would symbolically lay the sins of the Israelites onto a live goat, then send it into the wilderness (the scapegoat). God has offered His own Son, Jesus, once and for all – His life is the perfect sacrifice for all sins! Jesus became our scapegoat! Read Romans 12:1-2. What kind of sacrifice does God desire from us?

Activity

Talk about some of the ways (other than giving money) your family can use offerings as a way to worship God.

Memory Verse

No one holy, no one besides you, no rock…sound familiar? 1 Samuel 2:2 “There is none holy like the Lord; for there is none besides You; there is no rock like our God.”

Prayer

Offer yourself to God when you first wake up each day this week. Ask Him to receive joy and glory from everything you do. Read 1 John 2:2 and thank God for Jesus who is the sacrifice for all of us.
