Need Encouragement?

I recently read this quote by Pastor Paul Tripp who has written numerous biblically sound books:

“Need encouragement today? Remember:

-when you are exhausted, God isn’t
-when you are discouraged, God isn’t
-when you are unfaithful, God isn’t
-when you are weak, God isn’t

We have hope and a future because God isn’t like us!”

This quote reveals two vital truths:

  1. There is a vast difference between God and us. He’s the Creator and Sovereign; we are the creatures and dependents. “His greatness is unsearchable” (Psalm 145:3) and “He is mindful that we are but dust” (Psalm 103:14).

  2. There is unlimited encouragement in grasping this vast difference. “The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness” (Psalm 103:8) and He reminds us that “apart from Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5).

Drink often and long from the bottomless well of God’s encouraging revelation: “For He has satisfied the thirsty soul, and the hungry soul He has filled with what is good” (Psalm 107:9).

If you look at the world, you’ll be distressed. If you look within, you’ll be depressed. But if you look at Christ, you’ll be at rest.
